USC is definitely in the future of DE Kameryn Fountain (6-6 237) of Atlanta. It’s just a matter of whether it’s the one on the east coast or the west coast. Fountain committed to the Trojans of Southern Cal in June, but the Gamecocks of USC have never thrown in the towel on their chances.
Defensive ends coach Sterling Lucas has remained in hot pursuit, and his efforts appear to be paying off.
“Feel good about them still,” Fountain said of the Gamecocks. “I like both schools.”
Fountain made his official visit to Southern Cal in early June just before he committed. He’s not been back since. He did visit USC for the Florida game.
“Atmosphere was good,” he said. “Some players just need to step up. They think I can most definitely come in and help them right away.”
Fountain said Sunday night he does not have any plans for another visit to Southern Cal, but he said off his conversations with Lucas, it’s possible he’ll visit South Carolina unofficially this weekend for the Kentucky game and officially the following weekend for the Clemson game.
With the Gamecocks making a strong push and two potential visits in the works for the next two weekends, could Fountain see himself changing his commitment to the Gamecocks?
“It’s a high chance. It’s a high chance,” he said. “It’s very family based down there. It just feels good down there, just the environment feels good down there.”
Fountain has not decommitted publicly from Southern Cal, and he said the Trojans keep in touch with him. The next two weekends, if he makes those visits to Columbia, will go a long way in determing which USC logo will be on his helmet.
