For the second time in two days Saturday USC missed out on a top prospect who had been projected to the Gamecocks for most of the recruiting campaign. Friday it was wide receiver Jonathan Paylor of Burlington, NC who committed to NC State over the Gamecocks. Saturday afternoon it was CB Jalewis Solomon of Ellaville, GA who committed to Auburn over the Gamecocks. Analysts for the On3 and 247 recruiting networks were strongly convinced Solomon would pick USC based on what they posted on their respective sites. But Auburn got the last visit with Solomon last weekend after he had visited USC on Friday. Also, Solomon’s brother plays for Auburn. USC’s 2024 recruiting class remains at 16 and the next commitment date for one of their targets is August 23rd for running back Daniel Hill.
