#ACCKickoff: Louisville coach Jeff Brohm (AUDIO)

Jeff Brohm returns to Louisville where he played under Howard Schnellenberger from 1990-93 (Nell Redmond/ACC)

Louisville, Kentucky is where everything began for new Cardinals head coach Jeff Brohm. Quite literally, Brohm’s life began on April 24, 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky. Brohm went on to star at Trinity High School and was named the “Kentucky High School Player of the Decade” for the 1980’s before playing quarterback at Louisville under Howard Schnellenberger. Following a seven-year NFL career, Brohm returned to Louisville as head coach of the Louisville Fire of the Arena Football League and went on to work as an offensive assistant with the Cardinals from 2003-08. Brohm’s career has now come full circle as he takes over a program he once helped to an Orange Bowl victory as its Quarterbacks Coach.

Brohm’s cupboard won’t be bare as he takes the reins on a team that produced 406.1 yards/game last season and surrendered just 197.1 yards/game through the air. The Cards closed the 2022 season with a Fenway Bowl victory under interim head coach Deion Branch. Brohm will have to replace the production of quarterback Malik Cunningham (120 career touchdowns) but will have running back Jawhar Jordan (815 yards, 5.7 avg.) at his disposal. The Cardinals will also be replacing much of their defensive production after losing all three of their starting linebackers from 2022.

Louisville will get into conference play right out of the chute with a trip to Georgia Tech on Sept. 1.
