Clemson and USC remain very active in the Transfer Portal with each landing proven commodities on Wednesday. The Tigers gained Michigan catcher Jimmy Obertop who will be reunited with his former coach Erik Bakich. The St. Louis native bats and throws right. He played in 134 games in his four seasons at Michigan. In 2022 he started all 62 games he played in and batted .278 with 15 homers and 54 RBIs. This season he missed 36 games with a pre-season arm injury. He played in 19 games and batted .200 with three homers and seven RBIs.
USC also landed a highly sought after transfer Monday in OF Kennedy Jones (6-1 212) of UNC-Greensboro. Last season. Jones hit .355 with a career high 14 homers and 43 RBIs for the Spartans. He earned Freshman All-American honors in 2022 and was a First Team All-Southern Conference performer this season.
College of Charleston lost a second starting pitcher to transfer with RHP Trey Pooser heading to Kentucky. He made 36 career starts with the Cougars and was 17-7 with a 3.93 ERA. Earlier the Cougars saw Ty Good transfer to USC.
Coastal Carolina catcher Tanner Garrison is transferring to Florida. Garrison played in 38 games this season and batted .275 with a .275 with six home runs and 20 RBIs.
3B Chase Harlan of Doylestown, PA committed to Clemson.
Alabama 3B Colby Shelton is transferring to Florida. USC had made a run at him as well. Shelton led the Crimson Tide in home runs in 2023 with 25, setting the Alabama record for home runs by a freshman. He hit .300 with 51 RBIs and 33 walks.
Aiken WR Braylon Staley has set June 30th for his commitment announcement. He will visit North Carolina this weekend. He’s also taken officials to Clemson, Miami and Tennessee.
Clemson target SAF Ricardo Jones of Warner Robins, GA plans to announce his commitment on Tuesday. He made an official visit to Clemson and is scheduled for Florida State this weekend. Those appear to be his finalists.
USC and Clemson target SAF Malcolm Zeigler of Fuquay-Varina, NC has set his commitment date for July 17th. He has taken official visits to USC and Notre Dame this month and is scheduled to visit North Carolina this weekend. He made an unofficial visit to Clemson at the end of May. He also has Kentucky, East Carolina, Appalachian State, North Carolina and Penn State on his short list.
Clemson is in the final eight with WR Cam Coleman. The others are Kentucky, Florida, LSU, Florida State, Texas A&M, Auburn and Georgia. He made an official visit to Clemson the first weekend of the month. He is scheduled for LSU this weekend and Auburn the following weekend.
2025 OT Micah DeBose (6-5 315) of Pritchard, AL, who committed to Georgia in January, visited Clemson last Friday.
2026 OT Maxwell Riley (6-5 270) of Avon Lake, OH, visited Clemson Monday.
DE Quintavius Johnson of Atlanta, who had offers from USC and Clemson and took an official visit to USC, committed to Georgia.
Clemson target OT Casey Poe visited LSU Wednesday. He takes his final official visit this weekend to Alabama. He has also been to Clemson, Georgia, Texas Tech, Auburn and Oklahoma for official visits. With his visit this weekend, Poe will go down in the history books as the first college football recruit to complete six official visits during a single recruiting season. He has set July 12th for his commitment announcement.
2025 SAF Damarcus Leach (6-3 185) of Abbeville reported an offer from USC Wednesday following a camp session. USC also offered 2025 DT Antonio Coleman of Saraland, AL, 2026 OT Pierre Dean (6-4 305) of Clemmons, NC and 2026 OL/DL Desmond Green (6-4 325) of Timberland.
One time USC target DE Jamonta Waller of Picayune, MS committed to Florida.
OT Marcus Mascoll of Snellville, GA, brother of Clemson DE Justin Mascoll, committed to Florida.
Marion SAF Quaysheed Scott plans to announce his commitment on July 4th. He has his decision down to Kentucky, Old Dominion, Georgia Southern, Miami of Ohio and Appalachian State. He also was offered Thursday by Troy.
Wilson WR Jyron Waiters was offered by East Carolina and Appalachian State.
2025 WR Malik Clark of Rick Hill was offered by Liberty.
2025 QB Cutter Woods of Westside was offered by Virginia Tech.
DE Bryson Boone is transferring from SC State to Coastal Carolina.
Furman announced the additions of three transfer offensive linemen: Kody Varn (6-3 265) of Newberry College; Fred Norman (6-7 340) of East Tennessee State; and Tex Elliott (6-4 295) from Colorado State.
