#Clemson sweeps Louisville, takes fifth straight conference series (AUDIO)

Caden Grice struck out 11 in Clemson’s 7-3 win over Louisville (Clemson Athletics)

As the calendar has flipped from April to May, the slow start in conference play is getting smaller and smaller in Clemson’s rear-view mirror. The Tigers continued their tear through the ACC, completing a series sweep of Louisville with a 7-3 victory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Sunday. After dropping eight of 10 league games through April 6th, Clemson has won 12 of its last 14 conference games and taken the last five series against ACC opponents.

Caden Grice did his part, Sunday, limiting Louisville (29-18, 9-15) to three runs (two earned) and fanning 11 over 6.1 innings to pick up his fifth win of the season. Cooper Ingle picked up a pair of RBIs on two doubles and a sacrifice fly, extending his hitting streak to 19 games. Jack Crighton contributed two hits and Will Taylor and Billy Amick each homered.

Clemson’s bullpen was stellar, holding the Cardinals scoreless over the final 2.2 innings to slam the door shut. On the weekend, Tigers relievers surrendered just three runs over 8.2 innings.

Clemson (31-17, 14-10) will next square off with Coastal Carolina, Wednesday. First pitch from Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway is scheduled for 6 p.m.
