Kingston won’t let his players exhale after successful run against the best of the SEC (AUDIO)

Michael Braswell has given USC a boost as an injury replacement (Gamecock Athletics)

The 2nd ranked USC baseball team just wrapped up a run of eight games against three SEC rivals who were ranked inside the top five at the time of their games. The Gamecocks went a combined 5-3 against LSU, Vanderbilt and Florida. They are off for exams until Friday when Auburn comes to Columbia.

The Tigers are not among the SEC elite, so a challenge for head coach Mark Kingston and his assistants is to make sure their guys don’t relax against a non-ranked opponent. Kingston, speaking on SportsTalk Monday night, said that would not be a problem for his guys.

Kingston also gave an update on injuries saying he hopes first baseman Gavin Casas can return this weekend while third baseman Talmadge LeCroy is day to day. Second baseman Will McGillis, and pitcher Noah Hall still have some time to go before being able to return to game action.
