Clemson put Kennesaw State to bed early, Tuesday, routing the Owls 15-5 in seven innings to win its fourth consecutive game and ninth out of its last 11.
After falling behind 3-0 in the second inning, the Tigers scored multiple runs in each of their next five turns at the plate before dropping the curtain in the seventh as Caden Grice’s RBI single triggered the run rule. All nine Clemson starters registered a hit and scored, but Grice had the biggest day at the dish, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and five RBI’s. Grice leads the team with ten home runs and 39 RBI’s.
Blake Wright and Jacob Jarrell also went deep, each hitting their fourth homer of the season. Ty Olenchuk picked up his first win of the season with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and Reed Garris struck out two of the three batters he faced to lower his ERA to 2.29.
Clemson (26-16) next returns to conference play with a trip to 11th-ranked Boston College. The three-game series will start Friday at 5:30 p.m.
