USC landed a second commitment on Wednesday from a prospect who was in for the spring game Saturday night. OT Mike Williams (6-7 315) of Upper Marlboro, MD announced his Gamecock pledge moments after SAF Kelvin Hunter posted his. Williams becomes the fourth offensive line commitment for the 2024 class joining Kam Pringle, Josiah Thompson and Blake Franks.
Williams had the Gamecocks on his radar for the last two years and made multiple visits. The last one this past weekend pushed him to go ahead and take that last offensive line spot for the class.
“They treat you like family,” Williams said after his most recent visit. “I got to meet some guys, Josiah (Thompson), Kam Pringle, Blake (Franks). Overall, it was a great trip. I was told there were only four linemen in this 2024 class being recruited, that would be Josiah, Kam Pringle, Blake and me. They’re telling me I’m the last piece to add to the wall of Carolina they’ve got going on.”
Williams added that the USC coaches like the physical tools he will bring to the line of scrimmage.
“They are saying I’ve got long arms, big frame, a big guy and I’ve got the physicality,” Williams said.
Williams gives the Gamecocks nine commitments for their 2024 class. He also had Virginia Tech, Michigan State and Tennessee on his short list.
And Shane Beamer Tuesday put out his third commitment alert since Tuesday night meaning there’s another pledge preparing to go public at some point.
