For the second straight recruiting season, USC basketball coach Lamont Paris has tapped into the recruiting closet of former Citadel coach Dugger Baucom. Last year Paris signed former Bulldog Hayden Brown. Monday former Bulldog 6-8 Stephen Clark announced on his Instagram that he, too, will transfer to USC after graduating from The Citadel
Clark is a native of Matthews, NC. In his four seasons in Charleston, he averaged 9.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. His best season was this past one when he averaged 16.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He was named to the second team of the All-Southern Conference team.
Clark is a career 52% shooter. Most of is offense comes from inside the three-point line. He made just 26 threes over his four seasons. He was a career 61% free throw shooter with the Bulldogs.
Clark is the second transfer acquisition for Paris for his 2023 class. Last week 6-3 Ta’Lon Cooper of Dorman announced he would transfer from Minnesota. The Gamecocks have 11 of their 13 roster spots accounted for.
They remain in the hunt for 6-8 Wofford transfer BJ Mack who plans to announce his final five schools on Tuesday.
