



Clemson got a pair of homers from Blake Wright and scored in each of the first four innings on its way to a dominant 11-3 season-opening victory over Binghamton at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Friday. Wright opened the scoring with a long ball in the bottom of the first inning. The junior third baseman went deep again in the third to stake the Tigers to a 3-0 lead. By day’s end, Wright had hit two home runs, reached base five times, rapped out four hits, stolen three bases, collected three RBI and scored three runs.
The Tigers were relentless on the base paths, stealing 11 bases without being caught.
Starter Ryan Ammons (1-0) dominated the Binghamton lineup, yielding just one run and fanning nine in five innings of work. Game 2 of the series from Doug Kingsmore Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday.
