#STRecruiting: The latest on Northwestern WR Elijah Caldwell

Elijah Caldwell

A decision from Northwestern WR Elijah Caldwell could be coming soon. Caldwell took an official visit to USC last weekend. The weekend before that, he took an official visit to NC State.

Wolfpack coaches were in for a visit last week and are scheduled to be back later this week. USC coaches also were in last week, and Tuesday head coach Shane Beamer and staff members had their in-home visit.

“As far as I know it’s come down to NC State and South Carolina and he’s going to make that decision shortly,” said Northwestern coach Page Wofford said.  “I think we’ll have a decision shortly.  I think we’ll have a decision from him before February 1st.  We’ll see how it goes but I don’t think he can make a bad choice between those two.  I think he’s going to go where he felt the most at home and where he felt like he had the best chance for a program that he thinks is really on the way up.”

Wofford said he didn’t get much from Caldwell about his official visit with the Gamecocks, but his takeaway from what he told him was that it was a positive experience.

“He liked the food.  He liked the people.  He liked the atmosphere,” Wofford said.  “He liked the way they treated him and treated his family.  He said Coach Stepp did a really good job talking to him and making sure he was comfortable.”

Caldwell is one of two high school recruits Beamer is still working for the February 1st signing day. The other is TE Nyck Harbor of Washington, DC. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and staff members were in to see Harbor on Tuesday night. Beamer is scheduled for his in-home visit on Thursday. Harbor is scheduled for an official visit to Oregon this coming weekend. He’s also taken official visits to USC, Maryland and Michigan.
