Top-ranked USC ran off 16 unanswered points in the second quarter on their way to a 95-66 win at Kentucky Thursday night. The victory avenges a loss to the Wildcats in last year’s SEC Tournament Championship Game. Kentucky used a 14-1 run for a 31-21 lead in the second quarter before the Gamecocks shifted into high gear.
Aliyah Boston led the Gamecocks with 21 points and 10 rebounds, her tenth double-double of the season. She grabbed one offensive rebound becoming the program’s career leader in that category. Zia Cooke, who had 10 points in the 16-0 second quarter run, finished with 20 points.
The Gamecocks are 17-0 overall and 5-0 in the SEC and will host Missouri Sunday afternoon.
