USC football coach Shane Beamer has found Fayetteville, AR a good place to find people for his program. He hired Justin Stepp away from Arkansas in 2021 and Dowell Loggains this month. He also landed Arkansas transfer tight end Trey Knox for this year’s class. And he’d love to strike again in the heart of hog country.

The Gamecocks are going after Arkansas commitment TE Shamar Easter (6-5 214) of Ashdown, AR. Easter committed to the Razorbacks in August, but he decided not to sign early. He took an official visit to USC last weekend and now has the Gamecocks even with the Razorbacks.

“I had a great visit,” Easter said.  “All the coaches and all the recruits were wonderful people.  They want you to be the best you, the better person.  I had a great experience.  I saw a lot of things that I liked.  The facilities were good.”

Easter said his decision is strictly down to staying with Arkansas or flipping to the Gamecocks. He’s got a few weeks to figure things out before the February 1st signing day.

“Take some time to think about it before I sign,” Easter said.  “With when I’m signing, it’s given me time to put more thought into my decision.”

Easter took his official visit to Arkansas in June and he plans to visit there again January 15th when the Razorbacks host their next recruiting event.

As a junior, Easter had 30 catches for 519 yards and 5 touchdowns. He averaged over 17 yards per catch. Easter is also a track athlete and participates in several different sprints and field events for his school.
