#STRecriting Notebook 12-8

Clemson running back target Christopher Johnson of Fort Lauderdale is no longer considering the Tigers despite his official visit with them the weekend of the USC game. Reports from Rivals and 247Sports have Johnson visiting Miami this weekend instead of Penn State, and ultimately choosing between the Hurricanes and Ole Miss.

That puts Clemson’s focus on a running back for the 2023 class on Jamarius Haynes of Roanoke, AL. Haynes said Wednesday night Clemson running backs coach CJ Spiller will be at his basketball game Thursday night. He said he and Spiller have been in regular contact since his official visit November 25th. Haynes said he’s not considering any other schools besides Clemson at this point, and that is where he is planning to go. He will make a formal announcement and sign on December 21st, but he will not be an early enrollee.

USC RB coach Montario Hardesty met Wednesday with RB Robert Henry of Jones College, MS. They talked about an official this weekend and Henry is waiting on confirmation from Hardesty. Henry has said he is set to commit to the Gamecocks as soon as he gets the word from Hardesty. Henry was the leading rusher in junior college this season and was named the JC National Player of the Year.
