Dutch Fork wins 5A Championship 47-10 over Fort Dorchester (AUDIO)

Dutch Fork is back on top in 5A football in South Carolina

Dutch Fork regained its hold on 5A football in South Carolina Saturday afternoon. The Silver Foxes, who lost in the championship game to Gaffney last year, throttled Fort Dorchester 47-10 at Benedict College for their seventh championship in the last ten years under coach Tom Knotts. It’s the 15th championship for Knotts in his coaching career.

The Silver Foxes scored a touchdown on the opening drive of the game, a one yard run by Jarvis Green, to set the tone. The Patriots responded with a field goal, but then Dutch Fork scored the next 20 points for a 26-3 halftime lead.

Fort Dorchester pulled to within 26-10 early in the third quarter, but a controversial roughing the punter call, followed by an unsportsmanlike call on coach Steve LaPrad, cost them a possession and led to another Dutch Fork touchdown for a 33-10 lead. The Silver Foxes tacked on two more scores from there to account for the final points.

Running back Jarvis Green was the spark for Dutch Fork. He rushed for 241 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries. He also caught a touchdown pass. Quarterback Aliam Appler completed all seven of his pass attempts for 179 yards and two touchdowns. The Silver Foxes finished with 529 yards to 367 for Fort Dorchester.
