Christ Church wins 1A State Championship 43-20 over Johnsonville (AUDIO)

Christ Church celebrates their 5th state championship

After spotting Johnsonville an early 7-0 lead, Christ Church scored the next 29 points and rolled on to a 43-20 win over the Flashes to claim the 1A State Championship Friday night at Benedict College. It’s the fifth state championship for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers built a 29-7 lead on touchdown passes of 72 and 41 yards, and touchdown runs by Dashun Reeder of 8 and 62 yards. The Flashes closed to within 29-13, but Christ Church responded with a 47-yard Reeder touchdown run and a third touchdown pass by quarterback Woods Windham.

Christ Church hit Johnsonville with a balanced attack, passing for 260 yards and rushing for 197 yards. Windham completed 13-19 passes for 260 yards and 3 touchdowns. Reeder rushed for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Daquan Burroughs carried the Johnsonville offense rushing for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns.
