Coastal Carolina head football coach Jamey Chadwell wasted no time in answering the most important question on the “Grand Strand” this week.
“Grayson (McCall) will be a game time decision tomorrow,” Chadwell said during Friday’s Sun Belt Championship game press conference. “Need to go through warmups and see how he responds to the treatment that he’s been receiving the past few days. He has practiced some for us.”
McCall, who has missed CCU’s last two games with a foot injury, was named the Sun Belt “Player of the Year” for a second straight season on Thursday. The redshirt junior has completed 168-of-244 passes for 2,314 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, while rushing for another 165 yards and four scores.
Chadwell also tried to quash some of the stories that have him linked to other coaching jobs around the country, specifically Liberty and South Florida.
“There’s a lot of rumors going around about me and my next move. So, I want to let everybody know that I’ve not signed any contract or anything to go to another place.”
The Chanticleers will face Troy on Saturday afternoon for the league championship. The two teams did not meet during the regular season, but CCU has won the last three against the Trojans, including a 35-28 victory last October. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm ET on ESPN.
Coach Chadwell was joined in Friday’s press conference by redshirt senior nose tackle Jerrod Clark and super senior offensive lineman Antwine Loper.
