It may not be Carolina/Clemson, Alabama/Auburn, or even Army/Navy, but in terms of Sun Belt Conference football, it’s becoming as big as rivalries get. On Thursday, Coastal Carolina will host Appalachian State in front of a national audience (7:30pm/ESPN) at a sold-out Brooks Stadium in Conway. That said, to make it a true rivalry, the Chanticleers need to find a way to knock off the Mountaineers. Appalachian State has dominated the series, having won seven of the eight previous meetings, including last year’s matchup (30-27) on a last-second field goal. CCU’s only win against their rivals from Boone came in November of 2020 by a 34-23 margin.
On a “Talking Tuesday,” CCU head coach Jamey Chadwell met with the media to recap Saturday’s win at Marshall and to preview Thursday night’s primetime showdown with Appalachian State.
