#STRecruiting: Shane Beamer and his defensive staff are making a hard move on Auburn safety commitment Terrance Love #Gamecocks

One of the big-time prospects in the stands last Saturday night for the USC victory over Texas A&M was SAF Terrence Love (6-3 195) of Fairburn, GA. It was his second visit to USC this year. He was in for a seven-on-seven in June and got the chance then to check out the facilities and visit with head coach Shane Beamer and defensive assistants Clayton White and Torrian Gray.

Love committed to Auburn in April and that commitment remains in place, though observers of the Auburn program are waiting to see what happens with head coach Bryan Harsin after the season, as are the commitments. Thus, Love is checking into other options, and USC is one of those.

“I talked to Coach Gray, Coach White and Coach Beamer,” Love said.  “I actually sat down with Beamer, had like a brief meeting with Beamer, talked to him, me and my dad.  I talked to White my whole-time and I had brief statements with Coach Gray.  I’m a priority to them in the 2023 class.  They love my versatility.”

Love said his few minutes alone with Beamer gave him some insight into what the second-year head coach is all about.

“Coach Beamer is a very hyper-energetic guy,” Love said.  “He’s adamant about what he needs and what he wants in a player, and I like that. He said the same thing all the coaches are saying, I can do so much for the program.”

Love added that the atmosphere in the stadium Saturday night, and how the defense got after things, stuck with him.

“What impressed me the most was the fans,” Love said.  “The fans and how the players just clicked on all cylinders.  The secondary, the defensive line, everything as a whole was just clicking.  They made no mistakes pretty much.”

Love said he’s not signing until February, and he’s not taking the rest of his official visits until after his season. He took one to Auburn September 17th. He has numerous Power Five offers and this USC visit certainly helped their cause.

“Basically, just keeping them in the loop of things,” Love said.  “I’m still committed but I’m still just looking around at those other options, just in case things don’t go as planned by Signing Day.  A lot of schools don’t want to talk that much unless I decommit, but South Carolina is pretty much the only school that doesn’t care if I’m committed.  They’re still pushing.”

According to MaxPreps stats, for his career Love has totaled 189 tackles with 6 interceptions. As a receiver, he has 58 catches for 944 yards and 12 touchdowns.
