#STRecruiting Notebook 10-27 (UPDATED Thursday PM)

South Florence QB LaNorris Sellers, who is a Shrine Bowl selection and a finalist for Mr. Football in South Carolina, said Wednesday night he is postponing his scheduled unofficial visit to Syracuse this Saturday because of the Noon kickoff time. Sellers, who is committed to the Orange, said he had expected a night game between Syracuse and Notre Dame, and the earlier time won’t give him enough travel time. Plus, Sellers has a huge game Friday night against cross-town rival West Florence for the region championship. Sellers said he does plan to reschedule the visit with Syracuse. He took his official visit there in the summer. As of Wednesday night, Sellers said he had no plans for a game visit Saturday. USC offered him last Saturday and has invited him to visit for any of their remaining home games.

USC will have another large contingent of visitors at Williams-Brice Stadium Saturday for the Missouri game. They are scheduled to have one official visitor in DT Elijah Davis (6-4 300) of Wagener-Salley and East Mississippi JC. The Gamecocks have recruited Davis going back several years. He visited in May and June. He’s developed into one of the top JUCO prospects in this class and has garnered offers from Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Miami, Texas, Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee.

Players who tweeted out invites from USC include

  • 2023 DE/TE Patrick Swygert (6-3 255) of Batesburg-Leesville
  • 2024 LB Tristan Jernigan (6-1 210) of Tupelo, MS

USC target RB Khalifa Keith was offered by Mississippi State.

ATH Edwin Joseph, offered by USC in late September, will visit Florida State Saturday.

OT Elijah Philippe of Lackawanna JC, PA said Thursday he’s had no contact from USC for weeks. Philippe was offered by the Gamecocks in May and he took an official visit in late July. Philippe said he had a flare up with an assistant coach and was suspended for a couple of weeks. He said he notified his USC recruiters about the incident and they haven’t contacted him since. He said he is back on the team and in the good graces of the coaching staff. Philippe has scheduled official visits to Maryland December 9th and Florida State December 16th. USF, Washington State and FIU are some other recent offers.

Clemson target DE Tomarrion Parker is listed for a visit to Texas A&M this weekend. He took his official visit to Clemson last weekend. Tennessee, Florida and Georgia also are contenders.

Wren SAF Travon West plans to announce his next commitment Saturday. He decommitted from Indiana earlier this month. He visited Georgia Tech and Wake Forest for games in the last week.

Clemson and USC target 2024 OT Fletcher Westphal will announce his top schools November 30th.

Clemson and USC target 2024 TE/DE KingJoseph Edwards plans to visit Michigan this weekend.

2024 DT Hevin Brown-Shuler, a Clemson and USC target, plans to visit North Carolina Saturday. He was at USC last Saturday.

2024 WR Caleb Odom (6-5 205) of Carrollton, GA was offered by USC Wednesday and he plans to visit for the Tennessee game. Kentucky, USF, Illinois, East Carolina, Maryland, Missouri and Wake Forest are some other offers. He has been to several games this season including one at Clemson.

Duke coaches were at Lexington High Wednesday to check in on 2024 Cam Scott. The 6-4 guard also made an appearance Wednesday night at the Colonial Life Arena to watch USC’s intrasquad scrimmage and skills contest. Scott Wednesday was also offered by Wichita State.

2026 SS Cameron Jackson of Georgia Premier Academy committed to USC.
