Clemson has lost there most physically imposing commitment for the 2023 class. OT Zechariah Owens (6-7 355) of McDonough, GA told On he had retracted his July 4thi pledge to Dabo Swinney and the Tigers due to family considerations. According to the report, Owens’ family is moving and his desire is to be closer to where they are relocating. The story did not say where the family is relocating. Paul Strelow of TigerIlllustrated informed his readers this morning that his information indicated Owens based his decision on “the best financial interest” for his family. Owens is not playing this season after suffering a torn ACL last summer. He took an official visit to Clemson in early June and that was his only official visit. Some of his other offers at the time of his commitment included USC, Florida State, Penn State, Michigan, Kansas, Duke, Alabama, North Carolina, Arkansas, LSU and Oregon.

Clemson Thursday offered 2023 OT Spencer Fano (6-5 270) of Provo, UT. Michigan, Oregon, Utah, Miami, Southern Cal, UCLA, Michigan State, West Virginia, Oregon State, Washington and BYU are some other offers. He made an official visit to Utah in the summer and has also visited Michigan, Southern Cal, UCLA, Michigan State, Oregon and BYU. He will play in the All-American Bowl in January.

Clemson target SAF Khalil Barnes was offered by Notre Dame.

USC commitment OT Isaiah Jatta of Snow JC, UT was offered by UCF.

USC commitment DT Xzavier McLeod of Camden plans to visit Florida Saturday for the LSU game.

USC receivers coach Justin Stepp made a stop today to check out 2023 WR Edwin Joseph (6-0 178) of Hollywood, FL. Stepp offered Joseph late last month. Auburn, Penn State, Louisville and Miami are some other offers. He visited Penn State earlier int he season.

WR Tyler Brown of Greenville High, who decommitted from Minnesota earlier Tuesday, picked up offers from Appalachian State and Virginia Tech.

2024 OT Jordan Floyd of Lilburn, GA, who has drawn interest from Clemson, was offered by Pitt.

USC offered 2024 WR Terrance Moore Jr. (6-3 190) of Tampa.

USC offered 2025 TE/DE Logan Brooking of Savannah.

USC offered 2026 WR Malachi Toney of Fort Lauderdale.

SAF Bryce Thornton of Alpharetta, GA committed to Florida. He camped at Clemson last summer and had a Clemson offer but they did not make his cut to a top 5, and he chose Florida over Alabama.

Dutch Fork SAF Landon Danley committed to Virginia.

Dutch Fork and IMG WR Devin Hyatt was offered by NC State.

Greenville WR Tyler Brown was offered by Appalachian State. He plans to visit Virginia Tech Saturday.

2026 QB Mason Holtzclaw of Wren plans to visit Virginia Tech Saturday.

USC women gained their first commitment for the 2023 class Thursday in 6-1 Sahnya Jah of Baltimore and Montverde Academy, FL. She chose the Gamecocks over Miami, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and NC State.

USC made the top 8 with 2024 6-2 Toby Fournier of Toronto. The others are Connecticut, UCLA, North Carolina, Duke, Michigan, Stanford and Arizona.

2026 PG Rieyan DeSouze of Desoto, TX took a visit to USC this week.  

USC basketball coaches checked in on 2024 6-4 KJ Greene on Wednesday.
