#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks among the major programs jumping in on emerging cornerback Tyler Scott

Senior CB Tyler Scott (6-2 185) is playing the best football of his high school career right now, and several major programs have reviewed his film and come forward with an offer, including USC. Scott has three interceptions this season, a fumble recovery and a bunch of tackles.

Scott’s film was impressive enough that Gamecocks secondary coach Torrian Gray offered him last week without having seen him in person.

“I’m just performing well in my senior year, and I guess I came across their eye, and they offered me,” Scott said.  “Every game I’ve performed well. They said they like how aggressive I am, and they like how I cover.”

Scott has yet to visit USC for a camp or a game, but he and Gray are working on a date for him to come in and watch the Gamecocks play. He’s well aware of Gray’s reputation for developing defensive backs.

“I know Coach Gray is a great DB coach.  I can tell he’s a good coach,” Scott said.

Alabama and Oklahoma are also showing interest. Scott heard from Alabama last week and plans to visit there October 8th. He has been to games at Auburn and Georgia Tech so far this season.

Along with USC, Scott has picked up offers from Kentucky, Auburn, Missouri, Vanderbilt, UCF, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Buffalo, Liberty and Old Dominion. He has been committed to Arkansas State since June, but he said he’s open to considering all these new options he has.

Scott plans to sign in December, so he will make a final decision within the next two months.
