For the first time this season, Gamecock fans got to enjoy an offensive explosion from their team. In Saturday’s 56-20 victory over Charlotte, MarShawn Lloyd helped USC bowl over the nation’s worst defense to the tune of 295 yards rushing and 545 yards of total offense. The first teamers scored every time they touched the football, and the running game helped salt away a contest that was just 20-14 Carolina at the break.
On Sunday, head coach Shane Beamer held his weekly teleconference with the media, and despite the easy win, Beamer noted that his team still made plenty of mistakes that could get them beaten if they aren’t corrected. He also took time to brag about his team’s perimeter blocking, which helped spark the 200+ yard ground attack. Beamer was also asked about the possibility of this week’s matchup with SC State being moved due to the approaching storm in the Gulf of Mexico. You can hear his complete teleconference below.
