Coastal Carolina begins its 20th season of football this Saturday as the Chanticleers play host to Army at 7pm in Conway. CCU, which debuted the sport on September 6th, 2003, with a 21-14 victory over Newberry, is a slight favorite against the Black Knights this weekend.
The Chanticleers will be led by redshirt junior quarterback Grayson McCall. The university has developed “The Real McCall” promotional campaign to hype the Indian Trail, NC native for the Heisman Trophy, which will make an appearance at Brooks Stadium this Saturday. A season ago, McCall led the nation in passing efficiency and yards per attempt while finishing second in completion percentage and passing yards per completion.
On Wednesday, CCU head coach Jamey Chadwell held his first press conference of the season to preview the matchup with Army.
