This is a critical season for Brent Thompson as the head football coach at The Citadel. He’s about to embark on his seventh season as head coach and is in the final year of his contract. After winning the Southern Conference Championship in his first season, Thompson has not been able to record a winning season since. He is 32-37 overall and 24-24 in the Southern Conference.
The Bulldogs will stick with their triple option offense which has excelled on the ground under Thompson. Improving the passing game and the defense will be critical for success this season. The Bulldogs open the campaign Thursday night at Campbell.
