#STRecruiting Notebook 8-4

DE Daevin Hobbs (6-4 250) of Concord, NC said he is having some contract with Clemson via defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall. The Tigers have not offered at this point, but they are keeping the fire burning with Hobbs should they decide to move on him. “I’m trying to build up my relationship with Coach Hall,” Hobbs said.  “It’s going good I would say.  We’re talking about how Clemson would use me on the edge and how they would move me around.” Hobbs camped at Clemson in June and used that opportunity for an unofficial visit as well. Hobbs has USC on his short list but isn’t getting a strong push from them right now. “I’ve been talking to them like here and there.”   The others on his short list are Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee. Hobbs made official visits in June to Auburn and North Carolina. He plans to take more visits this fall, including officials to Alabama and Tennessee, and make his decision after those trips. Last season Hobbs had 39 tackles with 20.5 for loss and 8 sacks.

USC target DE Kelby Collins has set August 13th for his commitment announcement. He has USC, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma and Alabama as his finalists. He made official visits to USC, Florida and Georgia in June, and he visited Florida last weekend. He also visited USC for the spring game. Last week he called Georgia the favorite with Florida second on his list.

LSU offered 2024 Dillon OT Josiah Thompson (6-7 290). He also has offers from Clemson, USC, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Louisville, Texas A&M and North Carolina.

Oregon offered 2024 Greenville WR Mazeo Bennett.

Charleston Southern transfer 6-9 Darius Bowser signed with Houston. Bowser played four seasons with the Bucs. Last season he averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds per game.
