David Shelton has made quite a career out of covering high school sports in our state. However, his latest calling may be the most important. The long-time reporter for the Charleston Post & Courier, along with the High School Sports Report, has turned his focus towards a life-changing project. Shelton has lost two sons to drug addiction and has made it his mission to prevent other parents from having to deal with what he and his family have had to handle in the past few years.
Shelton has started the “1Team1Cause” project to raise awareness of drug addiction. He has pledged himself to chat with any organization, sports team, or civic group that would like to hear his story. He was also kind enough to join SportsTalk recently and discuss his mission, along with his thoughts on the upcoming high school football season.
