#STRecruiting Notebook 7-11 (Updated w/Lonergan Announcement)

On Monday, USC quarterback target Dylan Lonergan of Snellville, GA announced a commitment to Alabama.  Lonergan made his decision from USC, Alabama and Stanford and took official visits to all three. He is also a highly regarded baseball prospect and wants to play both sports in college. The 2023 MLB Draft next summer also could play a role in his future.  With the Gamecocks not landing Lonergan, their 2024 commitment Dante Reno has the option of reclassifying to 2023 and coming in with that class. If that were to happen, USC likely would increase their recruiting efforts for 2024 Jayden Bradford of Chapin and IMG Academy. He has an offer from the Gamecocks.

WR Davion Dozier of Moody, AL plans to announce on Wednesday and has USC on his short list along with Tennessee, Duke, Arkansas and Maryland. But Dozier did not visit USC during the recruiting process. He did take official visits to Maryland, Duke and Arkansas.

OT Kamen Smith of Wilkesboro, NC committed to NC State. He also had USC, North Carolina and Virginia Tech in his final four. USC was the only one he did not visit officially.

DE Chandavian Bradley of Platte City, MO committed to Tennessee over USC and Texas A&M. He took an official visit to USC June 24th.

USC remains strongly in the mix for ATH Nyckoles Harbor of Washington, DC. Harbor, who could be a tight end or defensive end in college, has had the Gamecocks in his final seven along with MIchigan, Southern Cal, Maryland, Miami, Georgia and LSU. Of the Gamecocks, Harbor said he was blown away by the attention head coach Shane Beamer gave him on an unofficial visit last summer. More recently he made unofficial visits to Southern Cal and Maryland. Harbor also is an elite sprinter and track will be a major part of his decision.

TE Javontay Conner of Kernersville, NC said he’s still hearing time to time from USC tight ends coach Jody Wright. He took an unofficial visit to watch a USC spring practice, and he said if he takes an official visit it will come during the season. Conner committed to UCF in April but decommitted in June. His most recent offer came from Connecticut. At the time of his commitment, he also had on his short list USC, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Florida State and Mississippi State.

Clemson is in the top 10 with 2024 CB Kaleb Beasley (6-0 175) of Nashville. The others on the list are Penn State, Auburn, Oklahoma, Michigan, Tennessee, Notre Dame, LSU, Georgia and Florida.

WR/SAF Evan Spivey of Philadelphia committed to Coastal Carolina.

2023 LHP/OF Dillon Head (5-11 175) of Glenwood, IL committed to Clemson. He originally was committed to Michigan. Here’s a Perfect Game evaluation: Recorded a 6.68 second 60-yard dash time, showcasing elite speed. Athletic and stocky build with present strength. Primary outfielder with an aggressive approach, attacks the ball and reads hops well. Solid release with carry on a line, whippy arm action. Quick transfer and release, arm plays big time. Left-handed hitter with an open stance and high hand and back elbow set. Knee to knee trigger with a big coil, high intent swinger with plenty of bat speed. Gets on plane early, looks to drive the ball to the pull side. Easy barrel whip, swing really projects.

Former USC pitcher Julian Bosnic is transferring to Arkansas.
