Another USC target has jumped in the boat, though he has not yet gone public with a commitment announcement. Gamecocks’ head coach Shane Beamer issued one of his “Welcome Home” commitment alerts around 12:55 PM Friday afternoon. Who could that alert be for? There are at least 24 publicly uncommitted prospects offered by USC who list the Gamecocks as one of their favorites. There are three among the 24 who have set commitment announcements….DE Tyree Weathersby later tonight, QB Dylan Lonergan for July 12th and WR Tyler Williams for September 27th.
USC missed out on the first of two offered prospects who are making their commitment announcements on Friday. DE Jaybron Harvey of (6-3 217) of Durham decided to stay in-state and committed to North Carolina. He made official visits to USC, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Louisville. He also had Wake Forest on his short list. Harvey had 129 tackles and 28.5 sacks last season.
SAF Braylon Johnson of Highland Springs, VA also is staying in the home state with a commitment to Virginia Tech. Johnson made official visits to USC on June 10th and Virginia Tech June 24th. He also made an unofficial visit to USC March 19th when he was offered by Shane Beamer. Some of his other offers were Coastal Carolina, Boston College, Duke, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
And at 7:00 PM, DE Tyree Weathersby of Douglasville, GA will name his choice, though he plans to continue with some official visits to other schools. Tennessee was his only official visit in June. He also has USC, Kentucky and Mississippi State on his short list.
Clemson running back target Jeremiah Cobb of Montgomery, AL announced his commitment Friday afternoon to Auburn over the Tigers and Tennessee. He made official visits to each last month. Last season Cobb rushed for 2163 yards and 30 touchdowns.
On Saturday at 7:00 PM on CBS Sports HQ, , USC is expected to be announced as the choice of 2024 QB Dante Reno of Fiskdale, MA. He made three visits to USC including last weekend for the Carolina Cookout. He named a short list of USC, NC State, Kentucky, Purdue, Virginia and Wake Forest.
On Saturday, one-time USC target RB Dontavius Braswell is set to announce at 4:00 PM. He’s down to Nebraska, Boston College, Oregon and Alabama.
On Monday, July 4th, Clemson is expecting more recruiting fireworks when OT Zechariah Owens of McDonough, GA makes his commitment pronouncement. Clemson was his only official visit of June and has said nothing publicly about his recruiting since then.
A former Tiger target, DT Darron Reed of Columbus, GA, also will announce on July 4th. He’s down to Ohio State and LSU.
And on the Fourth, Powdersville SAF Thomas Williams is set to announce. He has reported offers from Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Old Dominion and UAB.
Clemson target DE Keldric Faulk of Highland Home, AL will make his commitment announcement on Tuesday. Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Auburn are his finalists.
And on July 8th, DE Peter Woods of Alabaster, AL will name his school from a final four of Clemson, Florida, Oklahoma and Alabama. He took officials to Clemson and Florida last month.
WR Chris Lawson Jr. of Ridge View committed to Appalachian State.
Beaufort SAF/WR Colton Phares (6-2 185) committed to Appalachian State earlier in the week.
One-time Clemson and USC target DE Rico Walker of Hickory, NC named a final five of North Carolina, Auburn, Florida, Maryland and Tennessee.
5-6 Milaysia Fulwiley of Keenan took an unofficial visit to USD Thursday.
