It’s been a couple of disappointing seasons for the Wofford Terriers. After an abbreviated 2021 spring season due to Covid, the Terriers struggled through a 1-10 campaign this past fall, which saw them lose their last ten games following a 24-22 win in the season opener versus Elon.

On Tuesday, Wofford head coach Josh Conklin joined SportsTalk to recap the past couple of years and to start looking forward to this September. Conklin, set to begin his fifth season in Spartanburg, believes his team is in the right place mentally going into the fall. “I think you’ve got a group right now that’s really hungry,” the former Pittsburgh defensive coordinator said of his team’s desire in 2022. “We all understand we’ve got a long way to go to get back to where we want to be as a football program. But you do have a group of guys that understands the legacy of what’s been accomplished here.”

It won’t be easy to rebound for the Terriers, as they open the season on September 3rd at Southern Conference foe Chattanooga, before hosting Elon the following weekend. Wofford also has a road test at Virginia Tech on September 17th before getting into the meat of their league schedule in October.
