#STRecruiting: Brother of #Gamecocks freshman plans to join him in Columbia in January

Gavin Samson

USC signed a top-flight receiver out of Texas for the 2022 class in Landon Samson and in doing so may have gotten two for the price of one. Samson’s brother Gavin (6-2 190) was a standout receiver himself in high school. As a senior, Gavin Samson caught 25 passes for 516 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games. He was named first team all-district and second team all-state.

If things go as planned, the two could be running routes together for the Gamecocks in 2023.

Gavin graduated from Fort Worth Christian in 2018 and signed with Harding University in Searcy, AR. After his freshman season with the Bison, Samson left the school and joined the Armed Forces. He serves to this day but plans to leave the military in November, if all goes well, and enroll at USC in January according to his father.

Gavin will join the Gamecocks as a walk-on and though his background is primarily as a receiver, he’s a talented enough athlete to play other positions and will leave it up to Shane Beamer and the staff to decide where he can most help the program.
