Despite a severe thunderstorm in Columbia to kick off the work week, the stars were definitely out in the capital city. On Monday, the South Carolina Athletic “Hall of Fame” enshrined not one but two classes into its halls. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there was no induction ceremony last year, so both the 2020 and 2022 classes were honored on Monday night.
The members of the 2020 Class:

- Gaylord Perry, former Limestone University baseball coach and “Major League Baseball legend”
- Peter Boulware, NFL defensive end
- Dan Driessen, Cincinnati Reds infielder
- Todd Ellis, USC Quarterback
- Ed Lynch, USC pitcher and Chicago Cubs general manager
- C.J. Spiller, Clemson and NFL Running back
- Roberta Williams, S.C. State Basketball
Class of 2022:

- Judy Wilkins, former Director of Athletics at UNC-Charlotte and basketball player at Winthrop
- Mike Ayers, Wofford football coach
- Sidney Rice, USC and NFL Wide Receiver
- Fred Hoover, “The Father of Sports Medicine” in South Carolina
SportsTalk was on hand Monday night at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center to broadcast live from the induction ceremony. Former Wofford football coach Mike Ayers, and former players Sidney Rice (USC) and C.J. Spiller (Clemson) dropped by to chat about their big night.
