Righthander Billy Barlow baffled Boston College in Clemson’s regular season finale, Saturday, helping the Tigers finish off a sweep of the Eagles, 5-0 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, and roll into the postseason on a three-game winning streak. Barlow limited BC to one hit over six innings, fanning four on the way to his second win of the season.
Barlow turned it over to Jackson Lindley and Ryan Ammons for the final three innings. All told, Barlow, Lindley and Ammons held BC to two hits, both singles. Ammons got the final four outs on Clemson’s Senior Day for his eighth save. Offensively, Reed Garris reached base four times and launched his first career homer, finishing 2 for 2 with two RBI and three runs scored. Max Wagner went 1 for 4, closing out the regular season with a .379 average.
Clemson (35-21, 13-16 ACC) is now on to next week’s ACC Tournament in Charlotte. The Tigers first tournament opponent and game time will be announced Sunday.
