New York Yankees great Yogi Berra once said, “it gets late early out there.” For the USC baseball team that phrase is coming true. As the season enters the final weekend of April, the Gamecocks find themselves at 19-20 overall and 6-12 in the SEC. The silver lining in the dark overall cloud is that Carolina has been pretty good at Founders Park in Columbia. Over half of their wins have come inside the friendly confines, where they will host league foe Alabama (25-17/9-9) in a three-game weekend series starting Thursday night.
On Wednesday, head coach Mark Kingston met with the media to discuss the matchup with the Crimson Tide. Kingston announced that he’ll roll out the same pitching rotation that USC used in last weekend’s three-game sweep at the hands of Auburn. Brett Thomas (0-0, 8.31 ERA) will take the ball on Thursday night with Noah Hall (2-4, 5.17) starting Friday and Will Sanders (5-2, 3.52) tossing Saturday’s series finale.
