#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks add transfer TE from ETSU

Former ETSU TE Nate Adkins will join his dad OL coach Greg Adkins at USC (ETSUbucs.com)

USC Tuesday plugged in another piece for the offense at tight end with a commitment from Nate Adkins (6-3 240), the son of USC offensive line coach Greg Adkins. Adkins will bring another big body and soft hands to a room that already includes returnees Jaheim Bell and Traevon Kenion, newly converted receiver Chad Terrell and will be adding Oklahoma transfer Austin Stogner next month.

Adkins was regarded as one of the better tight ends in the Southern Conference. Last season he had 33 catches for 357 yards and a touchdown.

In his four seasons with the Bucs, Adkins totaled 73 catches for 749 yards and 4 touchdowns. This past season he was named to the second team of the Coaches All-Southern Conference Team.

  1. Nice! I wonder where he ends up in the pecking order? You gotta figure Stogner and Bell are the starters, with Bell being more of an H-Back and Stogner the TE-Y. I’m guessing Zavier Short may end up as an H-back TE too, with the logjam at slot receiver right now. So then that leaves Adkins, Kenion, and Terrell as the more traditional tight ends. Terrell looked good in the spring game, and Kenion played a decent amount last year, but maybe Adkins will end up being the #2 guy there? Now we got to wait and see who the other 3 outgoing transfers will be, considering that’s how many scholarships we are over by right now. Could end up being 4, if we add another DE like Beamer was saying he might.
