New USC men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris is scheduled to meet for the first time Monday morning with 2023 6-10 GG Jackson of Ridge View. Paris spoke with Jackson’s parents by phone on Wednesday night. The Gamecocks were thought to be the team to beat for Jackson when Frank Martin and assistant Chuck Martin were recruiting him. The two had become very close with Jackson and his family over the years. Martin said in an interview on SportsTalk last week Jackson had committed to him while on his official visit the weekend of February 18th. Along with USC, Jackson has also been considering Duke, North Carolina, Auburn, Georgetown and the G League. The family has not yet decided if he will stay in the ’23 class or reclassify to ’22, if he will stay at Ridge View next season or transfer elsewhere, perhaps to Oak Hill Academy where his coach Yerrick Stoneman is the new head coach, of if he will just turn pro now.
