DE Jahiem Lawson (6-4 214) of Daniel, brother of former Clemson star and current NFL standout defensive end Shaq Lawson, announced he has committed to the Tigers. Lawson was offered by the Tigers in late December, and he made his official visit there last earlier this month.
Lawson had a big senior season with the Lions with 12 sacks along with 25 tackles for loss, and he totaled 75 tackles. He helped lead Daniel to a second straight state championship, then elevated his profile even more in the Touchstone Energy Bowl. Lawson was named the Defensive MVP for the North after rolling up 3 sacks for 17 yards in losses.
“They see me playing on the edge, setting the edge, and pass rushing and getting after the quarterback,” Lawson said last month after getting the Clemson offer. “It’s always been a dream for me to go to Clemson.”
Lawson also had offers from Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee State and Western Kentucky.
Lawson gives Clemson 17 commitments from high school prospects, four of whom have legacy ties to the program.
