#STRecruiting: Unheralded corner prospect has the interest of #Clemson recruiter Mike Reed; #Gamecocks in touch with Notre Dame safety transfer

Myles Oliver

Clemson usually fills out their secondary with highly recruited players from across the country. But from time to time, the Tigers go off the recruiting radar and bring in a prospect few outside of his family know much about. Such is the case with CB Myles Oliver (6-1 170) of Douglasville, GA.

He’s not heavily recruited with Charleston Southern his lone offer. But Clemson cornerbacks coach saw some things on film about Oliver that really stood out to him. So, the two have been communicating and an official visit for January 14th has been scheduled.

“He’s been saying that he likes my speed, size and athleticism,” Oliver said.  “I think he saw my film.”

And Oliver has a busy film. This season he had 75 tackles with 5 interceptions on defense, and on offense, he had 552 all-purpose yards. He also scored four touchdowns.

At this point, Oliver will take his official visit to Clemson with an offer in hand. And at this point, he’s not sure how that is going to work out.

“We haven’t been talking about that that much.  I don’t really know,” Oliver said.  “We haven’t discussed it really.”

Oliver is hoping the subject will come up on his official visit, if not sooner. The chance to join the Clemson program would be big for him.

“It’s a good, winning program.  That’s what I like about Clemson,” Oliver said.  “I like how their defense sets up, and how coach Reed coaches the corners.  He’s had a whole bunch of corners who have gone to the NFL.”

Oliver also has an official visit set with Charleston Southern for January 21st.

Clemson did strongly recruit SAF Khari Gee (6-2 195) of Atlanta for the 2021 class, but the Tigers and LSU lost out to Notre Dame. After a season in Notre Dame in which he did not see the field, Gee has hit the Transfer Portal. He said Monday night that while he’s not heard from Clemson at this point, he has been contacted by USC, along with several others.

Gee said he was not prepared to comment on any other contacts at this point but might be able to do so next week after he has sorted thru the schools showing the most serious interest.
