Shane Beamer addressed the media, Tuesday, ahead of the Gamecocks trip to Missouri. Unsurprisingly, Beamer named Jason Brown the starting quarterback on the heels of South Carolina’s 40-17 victory over Florida. Brown was 14 of 24 for 175 yards and two touchdowns in his first start in garnet and black.
Beamer also touched on how he’s keeping his team focused not on bowl eligibility, but the task at hand. That task is knocking off Missouri for the first time since 2018. The Tigers won’t make it easy with a couple of all-SEC candidates on both sides of the ball. Defensive end Trajan Jeffcoat (Irmo High School, 2017 Shrine Bowl) traded one Columbia for another when he committed to Barry Odom and Missouri in 2017. Jeffcoat, now coached by Eli Drinkwitz, was named to the all-SEC first-team last season. Offensively, Missouri is led by running back Tyler Badie. Badie has already amassed 1,030 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns this season. Badie is a double-threat as he also leads his team with 45 receptions.
