Sunday Conference Call: Shane Beamer on the off week and getting ready for the Florida Gators (AUDIO) #Gamecocks

Jason Brown could be the starting quarterback for USC Saturday against Florida (Chris Gillespie)

Back to work on Sunday for Shane Beamer and his USC Gamecocks who enjoyed the benefits of an open weekend. They did practice three times last week, did some self-scouting, and worked a little bit on Florida. But the primary purpose of the open week was to get healthy, and except for Jaylin Dickerson, most of the walking wounded are feeling better.

Quarterback Zeb Noland, who had a minor knee procedure during the week, practiced some on Sunday. Beamer expects Noland to be available Saturday night against the Gators, but he’s not naming a starting quarterback right now. He wants to see how Noland progresses, and how Jason Brown and Colten Gauthier compete this week.

The Gamecocks go into the final month of the regular season at 4-4 overall and 1-4 in the SEC. They opened as 20-point underdogs to Florida, and the line has moved slightly to Florida as a 19-point favorite.

Beamer met with the media Sunday night on a conference call to review the open week and look ahead to the Gators.
