Shane Beamer Sunday Night Conference Call (AUDIO) #Gamecocks

The day after the loss to Tennessee in Knoxville, USC coach Shane Beamer was not at all down in the dumps about his team. Disappointed in the lopsided outcome, yes, but not at all ready to give up on the season. In fact, Beamer said the story on this season for his team has yet to be written.

Beamer said they had great practices and meetings leading up to Saturday, which makes the 28-0 first quarter hole the Gamecocks fell into all the more puzzling. But he was proud of the fact his players did not pack it in, and in his mind, Beamer felt had they converted that two-point conversion attempt early in the fourth quarter to pull to within 16 points, they would have won the game.

Beamer added there were no new major injuries Saturday and he expects to have starting corner Cam Smith back this weekend.

The Gamecocks face Vanderbilt this Saturday for Homecoming, and they are now 20-point favorites after opening as 16-point favorites. The Gamecocks are looking for their first SEC win under Beamer, and looking to snap a nine game SEC losing streak dating back to last season.
