The Coastal Carolina football team has been cruising right along thus far this season. Whether it’s offense, defense, or special teams, the Chanticleers have been nearly flawless in posting a 5-0 overall record and a 1-0 start to Sun Belt Conference play.
Now comes the most interesting portion of their 2021 schedule. Over the next three weeks, CCU will play two Thursday night games and a Wednesday evening contest with back-to back road games as part of the trio. That stretch begins this Thursday, as the 16th ranked Chanticleers head to Jonesboro, Arkansas to face the Red Wolves of Arkansas State. Coastal is 0-2 at ASU with the Red Wolves leading the all-time series three games to one. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm (ET) on ESPNU.
On Monday, CCU head coach Jamey Chadwell held his weekly press conference to preview the primetime matchup on national television. CCU Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations Kevin Davis moderates the presser.
Key Comments from Chadwell:
- QB Grayson McCall should be, “ready to rock and roll” against Arkansas State. McCall suffered a lower body injury in the first half of this past Saturday’s win over ULM.
- Other injury news, running back Shermari Jones and PK Massimo Biscardi are expected back for Thursday’s game.
- On facing former Tennessee HC Butch Jones, who is in his first year at ASU, “he’s going to know how to get his team in the best position. We’re not going to out scheme them.”
