After a loss to Georgia and a win over SC State, Clemson opens ACC play this Saturday against Georgia Tech at Death Valley. The game will kick off at 3:30 and be televised on ABC. The Tigers have won the last six in the series and pulverized the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta last year 73-7. Clemson will be going for their 30th consecutive home win. The Tigers have the longest active home winning streak in the nation.

Also, the Clemson defense has yet to allow a touchdown this season. The last time Clemson went three straight games not allowing the opponent to reach the end zone was 1990. The last time the Tigers did that in the first three games of a season was 1950.

Tuesday, head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media to preview the Tech game. Once piece of news he dropped what that freshman offensive tackle Deitrick Pennington had suffered a torn ACL and would be lost of the season. He becomes the third offensive lineman, along with John Williams and Tayquon Johnson, to be lost to injury. Swinney did say they will get Mason Trotter back from injury this week.

Other key comments from Swinney:

  • They’ve got a lot of improvement to be the type of team they want to be. Georgia Tech is a much-improved team despite the loss in the opening game.
  • Georgia Tech has an experienced group up front, the running back is special, Yates looked good at QB and Sims cand still help them, 10 veterans on the defensive side, strength is secondary.
  • They’ve got three guys who can start for them at running back…Dixon, Pace and Shipley. And the other backs are good as well, the depth at the position will pay off as the season grinds on.
