#STRecruiting: Top TE target Oscar Delp narrows his options to four

It’s now a four-team race for TE Oscar Delp with Clemson and USC in the mix

Tight end Oscar Delp of Cumming, GA is practically everyone’s number one target when it comes to tight ends. On Thursday, the 6’5″ prospect narrowed his college choices to four with an announcement on social media. Clemson and USC made the cut, along with Georgia and Michigan.

Delp took a pair of visits to Clemson during the summer, attending the “All-In Cookout” in July. He recently told SportsTalkSC that he wanted to learn as much as possible about the Tigers prior to the season.

“Last time I saw them, I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with coaches, so that’s kind of why I went back,” Delp said.  “It was good and they’re definitely near the top of my list right now. We were only there for a couple of hours.  It was good hanging out with all the players and coaches. There was not a lot of recruiting.  It was mainly hanging out and get to know each other and get to meet everyone.”

Meantime, Delp says he remains in constant contact with Shane Beamer and the USC staff, noting that they’re not the only Gamecocks interested in his talent.

“I’ve been talking to their coaches all the time. Their fans are crazy.  They really want me to come over there.  Waiting for the next step which is to get out for some games.”

Because he wants to take in some games this fall before making a decision, Delp doesn’t plan to finalize anything until sometime in September. That could happen on his mom’s birthday, September 30th, or, he said, it could come earlier in the month. He has not yet decided which games he’ll attend in the opening month of the season.
