The decision hour is nearly hear for DT D’Andre Martin of Durham, NC. Sometime after noon on Sunday, Martin plans to release a video on social media announcing his commitment to either USC or Virginiai Tech. He has not yet pinned down the exact time. Nor has he pinned down the school he will commit to.

“No, not yet,” Martin said.  “Me and my parents are going to re-evaluate today and tomorrow.  The deciding factor is going to be where I feel the most comfortable, where can I see myself at if I’m not playing football.”

Martin checked out both of his finalists this week, first Virginia Tech and then USC. He arrived in Columbia Thursday and left Saturday afternoon following the cookout.

“It was pretty good,” Martin said of the visit. “I didn’t really get a chance to talk to the defensive coordinator.  That’s probably something I would have changed, just getting to know him with a deeper connection.  Other than that, it was pretty decent. The weight room and the training room really stood out to me. We relaxed and talked football with the coaches, and I hung out with some of the other players and coaches today at the cookout. I spent most of my time with Coach (Shane) Beamer and Coach (Jimmy) Lindsey.”

And what’s the final impression of Beamer Martin took away from Saturday as he considers whether to play for him?

“The image of him and his level of coaching stood out to me,” he said.

Defensive tackles and Zacch Pickens and Rick Sandidge were the players Martin said he was around the most during the visit. It was Martin’s second visit to USC, the other coming on June 24th. He also made an official visit to Virginia Tech in June.

Martin was one of four uncommitted USC targets in the 2022 class who visited Saturday for the cookout. The others were Dutch Fork WR Antonio Williams, Charlotte DE James Pearce and LB Joshua Josephs of Kennesaw, GA.
