Frank Martin likes the “vibe” surrounding the #Gamecocks this offseason (AUDIO)

USC head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin met with the media on Wednesday to talk offseason basketball. Martin was very blunt in discussing what went wrong during last year’s 6-15 campaign for the Gamecocks. The veteran head coach says the lack of trust in the locker room between the players and coaches was a major issue as USC stumbled to its worst year with Martin at the helm.

Heading into his 10th season in Columbia, Martin says there is a new “vibe” around his program and he’s excited about what he’s seen from his team thus far. He discussed that subject at great length, including what it was like to recruit his son and the qualities Brandon brings to the team. He also discussed how difficult this past spring was with the uncertainty surrounding his job status at Carolina. Plus, he broke down the good, the bad, and the ugly of name, image, and likeness.

Associate head coach Chuck Martin also joined the press conference to discuss recruiting and the transfer portal, while former player Brian Steele stopped by to detail his new role with the USC coaching staff.
