#STRecruiting Weekend Notebook (UPDATED Sunday Morning)

Clemson is in the final six with WR Brenen Thompson (5-11 165) of Spearman, TX. The others are Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon and Oklahoma State. He has visited Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State this month.

Clemson was named in the top 10 with 2023 WR Brandon Innis (6-1 188) of Fort Lauderdale, ranked the #1 WR in the ’23 class. The others are Southern Cal, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Ole Miss.

USC offered 2023 6-7 Justin Edwards of Philadelphia. He’s a 4-star and ranked the #15 small forward nationally by 247Sports. He also holds offers from Marquette, Pitt, St. Johns, Connecticut, Penn State, Oklahoma State, VCU, Rutgers and others.

USC women’s coach Dawn Staley issued a commitment alert Saturday night. The prospect had not yet gone public with the commitment as of early Sunday morning.

USC football coach Shane Beamer now has four commitments in the deep freeze going into the final recruiting weekend of June. Seven prospects have publicly committed to the Gamecocks. Since Wednesday, Beamer has issued his Twitter commitment alert, “Welcome Home”, four times, most recently Friday night. None of those players have publicly announced a commitment, so it remains a guessing game as to who they are and when they will publicly announce.

This weekend Beamer will learn if he won the recruiting battle with Tennessee for Kansas transfer cornerback Karon Prunty. He visited the Gamecocks and Vols this month and he tweeted Tuesday he would make his decision known this weekend.

Clemson target DE Jihaad Campbell of IMG Academy plans to announce his college decision Sunday at 4:00 PM. He took officials to Florida, Ohio State and Georgia, and was scheduled for Texas A&M this weekend. He also made an unofficial visit to Clemson for two days in early June.

DE Eli Hall of Shelby, NC, who has a USC offer, plans to announce on July 21st. He had official visits scheduled this month with Duke, Virginia and Minnesota. He took an unofficial visit to Wake Forest.

USC target DT Felix Hixon of Jackson, GA is on his official visit to Virginia this weekend. He also has taken officials to Wisconsin, USC, Illinois and Georgia Tech.

USC target WR Kylic Horton of Clarendon Hall took an unofficial visit and participated in a camp at Wake Forest Friday. USC, Coastal Carolina and Virginia Tech are his top offers at this point.

WR Brenen Thompson of Spearman, TX, who has had a Clemson offer and has had the the Tigers in his top 12, plans to announced a top 6 on Saturday. The others in his top 12 are Texas A&M, Nebraska, Auburn, Stanford, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Oregon, Texas, Georgia and Texas Tech. He is coming off an official visit to Oregon. He’s also taken officials to Texas A&M and Oklahoma State and an unofficial visit to Texas.

One-time USC target DT Curtis Neal of Cornelius, NC committed to Wisconsin.

ATH JaCorey Thomas of Orlando, who had an early offer from USC, committed to Georgia.

USC 2023 QB target Eli Holstein of Zachary, LA committed to Texas A&M.

One-time USC target DE Quency Wiggins of Baton Rouge, LA is down to a top five of LSU, Alabama, Florida, Texas and Oregon.

Clemson target DE Enai White is on an official visit to Ohio State this weekend.

Clemson target DE DJ Wesolak is taking an official visit to Southern Cal this weekend.

2023 5-star RB Richard Young of Lehigh, FL was offered by Clemson Friday while in for an unofficial visit. He’s ranked the #1 running back nationally in his class in the 247Sports Composite. The last two seasons he’s rushed for 1836 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s also visited Ohio State, Florida State and Georgia this month. His offer list stretches from coast to coast.

2023 DT Zavion Hardy (6-5 235) of Macon, GA made a visit to USC on Friday. He’s a four-star prospect and ranked #19 nationally in his class among defensive linemen in the 247Sports Composite. This month he’s also visited Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Georgia Tech. Clemson has not yet offered. Southern Cal and Arizona State also have offered.

2023 OC Cal Grubbs (6-4 280) of Maryville, TN camped at and visited USC Friday. Ole Miss, Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee Tech have offered Grubbs who is rated a three-star by 247Sports.

Mauldin linebacker Deuce Campbell announced a commitment to North Carolina Friday. He made an official visit to Chapel Hill last week. He also camped and took an unofficial visit to Clemson, and went to USC and Georgia for 7 on 7 events. He did not draw offers from those schools.

Greenville SAF Ashton Whitner was offered by Campbell after working out at the Charlotte Mega-Camp Friday.

2023 QB Grayson Loftis of Gaffney was offered by Charlotte.

2023 OT Markee Anderson of Dorman visited North Carolina Friday.

USC is in the top five with 6-4 Quante Berry of Winston-Salem. The others are Providence, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Texas A&M. He’s rated a three-star and ranked the #36 point guard nationally in the 247Sports Composite.

2024 6-4 Kyle Greene of Atlanta, formerly of Blythewood, was offered by Clemson Friday, a day after picking up an offer from USC.
