#STRecruiting: Jackson camping at #Clemson Friday for an offer

Davin Jackson

DE Davin Jackson (6-2 250) of Sumter is on a mission this month to prove to the recruiters and the analysts who don’t think he’s major college material that they are wrong. He’s one for one this month. Last week he worked out in camp at USC for Shane Beamer and defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, and they offered. Friday he will be at Clemson’s camp, and he will be out to show Dabo Swinney and defensive tackles coach Todd Bates that he is worthy of an offer from them as well.

“I’ve been talking to Todd Bates,” Jackson said.  “He wants to see me in person.  He wants to see how I do in the camp and things like that.  Same with South Carolina, that’s how they were.”

Jackson was confident going into his workout for the Gamecocks. He’ll carry that same confidence with him onto the field at Clemson Friday morning.

“I feel great,” Jackson said.  “I think a lot of schools look at my height, but I don’t really think it matters too much.  When I do drills and things like that, I feel like it makes college coaches change their mind.  I’m just going to go up there and have fun.”

And what would an offer from the Tigers mean to Jackson?

“A lot,” he said.  “I grew up watching them.  USC and Clemson were my top schools growing up, just from being from South Carolina.”

Jackson is set to revisit USC June 27th. Since getting their offer, he has been in regular contact with coaches.

“Coach Lindsey text me and calls me a good bit,” Jackson said.  “We chill on the phone.  Coach Beamer, he’s sent me some videos and talked to me a little bit thru text too.”

Jackson said he will take an unofficial visit to Charlotte June 15th, and he has official visits set with Syracuse on June 18th and Coastal Carolina June 25th.

Other Notes:

Clemson Thursday offered four-star WR Andre Greene Jr. (6-3 180) after he worked out in camp. Greene is taking an official visit to Georgia this weekend. He will go officially to North Carolina and Oregon later in the month, and he will take an official visit to Notre Dame in October. Greene said he’s not rushing the process. “With Coronavirus being with us for most of the year, I haven’t had a chance to visit and get to know schools like I would want to,” Greene said. “I’m not in a rush to make a decision and want to build those relationships to make sure we are both the right fit for each other.” Green is rated the #22 receiver nationally. His team played only three games in the spring, and he had 12 catches for 234 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Greer TE Jaleel Skinner, coming off an official visit to Florida, told Cory Bender of Rivals he has officials coming up with Arizona State June 14th, Alabama June 18th and Miami June 25th. He has been to Florida State unofficially and he camped at Clemson. He had been scheduled for Clemson this Saturday, but he is going back to Florida for a seven-on-seven at IMG Academy.

Per 247Sports, DT Jamaal Whyce (6-4 255) of Miami plans to visit USC Friday. He’s rated a three-star and ranked the #99 DT nationally in the 247Sports Composite. Some other offers are Alabama, Indiana, Florida, Kentucky and Syracuse. Last season he had 39 tackles with 6 sacks.
