Clemson has never won fewer than 35 games in the five full seasons under Monte Lee, and has never missed the NCAA Tournament during his time. The Tigers will have to win a lot of postseason games to approach that number this season. They are 24-23 going into the final regular season series Thursday at home against Duke. They also have at least three games to play in next week’s ACC Tournament.
Despite the record, D1Baseball and Baseball America project the Tigers to be in the NCAA Tournament as a three seed. Tuesday night on SportsTalk, Lee expressed the same sentiment. He believes the Tigers are in, though he’s cautious enough to know they need to win the Duke series and some games next week just to be sure.
