Clemson suffered its second straight walk-off loss Tuesday night falling to Georgia in Athens 8-7. The Tigers also lost in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday 3-2 at Miami. Clemson has lost seven straight games and is 15-18.

A four-run seventh inning put Clemson up 6-4. Kier Meredith, Caden Grice and Jonathan French had RBI singles in the rally, and the fourth run scored on a wild pitch. Three of the runs were unearned as the Bulldogs committed two errors in the inning.

The lead didn’t last long. In the bottom of the seventh, Cole Tate hit a two-run homer to left off Nick Clayton, the second homer allowed by Clayton in as many innings, to tie the game at 7-7.

Georgia scored a run in the bottom of the 8th off Clemson reliever Geoffrey Gilbert for an 8-7 lead going to the ninth. Grice led off with a double, was sacrificed to third and scored on a sacrifice fly by French to make it an 8-8 game.

In the bottom of the ninth, a one out walk, a single and a double off Gilbert (1-4) plated the winning run and gave Georgia a sweep of the two-game season series.

The Tigers return to ACC play at home Friday night against Wake Forest.
